Honest feedback policy
Version 1, in effect from 24 October 2026
Real feedback. No manipulation.
Feedback is only useful if it is true, and reviews are only fair if nobody games them. This page sets out what AskBell promises, and what we ask of every business that uses it.
What AskBell promises
- Answers cannot be edited. There is no way in AskBell to change an answer once it is sent: not for the business that asked, and not for our own team.
- Every respondent is offered the review step. When a form asks people to leave a Google review, AskBell offers it to everyone who answers, never only to the happy ones. This follows Google's review policy and the US Federal Trade Commission's rule on consumer reviews and testimonials (16 CFR Part 465).
- One submission counts once. A spam check runs on every submission, and the same submission is never counted twice.
- Only junk can be rejected. AskBell flags answers that look automated or careless (sent faster than anyone can read, keyboard mashing, or when the anti-bot check could not run). A business may keep or reject a flagged answer; it cannot reject any other answer, so an honest complaint always counts. Results say how many answers were rejected.
- Answers beyond a plan's allowance are kept. If a business goes over its plan's monthly allowance, the extra answers are kept, never deleted. Some may be hidden until it upgrades or the month turns, but none are lost.
- A thank-you offer is for answering, never for a review. A business may thank everyone who answers its form with its own offer, such as "10% off your next visit" or "a free filter coffee". AskBell shows it to every person who sends the form, on whichever thank-you page they reach, whatever they answered: it cannot depend on a score, an answer, an ending or the review step, and it cannot change with what someone said. It is shown apart from the Google review step, says plainly that it is for answering and not for a review, and cannot mention reviews, ratings or stars. The review step stays exactly as it is, offered to everyone, with or without an offer. No money passes through AskBell: the offer is the business's own, honoured at its own counter. (One exception, for everyone alike: an offer with a personal code needs the internet for the code, so the AskBell app's offline kiosk does not show it to anyone.)
What we ask of businesses
- Don't buy or reward reviews. No discounts, gifts, prize draws or payments in return for a review, good or bad. A thank-you offer in AskBell is for answering the form, so honour it for everyone who shows it, whether or not they left a review, and never ask for a review, or a good answer, before you honour it.
- Don't filter. Don't send the review request only to people likely to be pleased, or hold back the unhappy ones.
- Don't pretend to be a customer. Don't write feedback or reviews posing as a customer, and don't ask staff, friends or family to do it for you.
- Don't ask for identity documents. A photo or file question is for the feedback itself (a dish, a room, a fault, a finished checklist), never for pictures of someone's ID card, passport or bank card.
A business that breaks these rules breaks our Acceptable use policy, and we may suspend its forms.
Why it matters
People trust a review because they believe it is real. Your customers' honest answers, including the hard ones, are how a business gets better. We built AskBell so that both stay true.
