Cookies and storage
Version 1, in effect from 24 October 2026
This page lists every cookie and every piece of browser storage AskBell uses, and why. It is short, because there is not much: no advertising cookies and no tracking cookies.
On the website and in your account
- Sign-in cookie on api.askbell.app. It keeps you signed in after you enter your one-time code. Without it, you could not use your account.
- Light or dark choice, kept in your browser's local storage, so the site looks the way you picked it next time. It stays in your browser.
- Referral and campaign cookies (
ab_refandab_cmp) on askbell.app, set only when you open a referral, partner or campaign link (an address with /r/, /p/ or /c/). Each holds a random number, nothing about you. When you create a business account, they tell us which link brought you, so the business or partner who recommended AskBell can be thanked; then they are deleted. They last at most 60 days (the attribution window in our Referral and partner terms). When you open such a link we record the link, the campaign tags in its address (utm_…), your country as our network provider sees it, and the time — never your IP address — and we delete that record after 90 days.
On form pages
Answering a form sets no cookies, with one exception:
- Private forms. If a business protects a form with a password or an email code, unlocking it sets a signed "pass" cookie that is limited to that form's address. It lasts 30 days after a password, or 7 days after an email code, so you do not have to unlock the form again on every visit. It only lets this browser open this form.
When you submit a form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a program, sent it. We keep only its yes or no.
What we do not use
There are no advertising or tracking cookies, on the website or on form pages. The referral and campaign cookies above are first-party: they are never shared with an advertising or analytics company.
The phone app
The phone app's optional, anonymous usage statistics are explained in the Privacy policy. You can switch them off in the app at any time.
Your choices
You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser whenever you like. If you clear the sign-in cookie, you will need to sign in again. If you clear a pass cookie, you will need to unlock that private form again.
